Roberta (Bert) Grumm Nee Hudson
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bert Grumm to her eternal home on July 31, 2014.
Roberta was born June 30, 1945. She was the beloved wife and soul mate of Mike Grumm from Atikokan, Ontario. Their life together began in 1969 and her Mikey was her everything. Together they shared 43 years of married life together.
Left to cherish her memory are two sisters, Betty (Henry Renz), Judy (Alan Lenius), one brother Chuck (Sylvia), and sister-in-law Teresa and their families, as well as many other brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Nellie Hudson and one brother Jim.
Bert enjoyed nature and everything outdoors. Whether it was beautiful flowers, different types of birds and wild life, the sound of wind chimes, or the smell of a bonfire, she loved it all. She enjoyed watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, a strong cup of tea and loved her past and present pet birds and cats. Her passion was hunting and fishing. Some of her prize trophies are proudly mounted and displayed on the walls. Bert spent many years working in the food industry, either cooking or waitressing. She loved being a homemaker as well, cooking and baking for family and friends.
She’ll forever be remembered for making the best fish fry ever! Other talents of hers were the lovely handmade quilts and crochet items that she made. We’ll never forget her response when asked how it was going; her response was, “it’s got to go.” She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humour.
Bert touched so many people and will be lovingly remembered by many family members and friends.
Thanks so much to all the staff, nurses and doctors and doctors who took such wonderful care of her during these last six and a half years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer or Kidney Foundation. Cremation has taken place with a private graveside to later follow.
You fought the good fight Bert. You earned your eternal prize. Love you always. Until we meet again.
