Ruth Margaret Rogoza

With great sadness the family of Ruth Margaret Rogoza announce her passing into the loving arms of our heavenly Father with her family at her side on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario.

Mom was born February 15, 1928 in Blue Twsp, Sleeman, Ontario to August and Lilah Johnson, the fifth of seven children. After completing High School in Rainy River she moved to Fort Frances and found employment at Eric’s Lund in McIrvine. She soon met her soul mate and the love of her life Matt Rogoza when he and his brother John owned and operated the Fort Frances Coffee Bar. They were married on December 3, 1947. She had a sense of humour and was a warm, kind, determined and very talented person. Family was everything to her and she showered her love to us all. She loved her crafts, knitting, her flowers, garden, cooking her delicious cinnamon buns, ginger snaps, cabbage rolls, perogies, soups, pickles and on and on. Dad, being the Chef at the Rainy Lake Hotel tried some of her recipes at times and thus many others enjoyed the tasty results. Mom waitressed on many banquets at the Rainy Lake over the years. Ruth was a member of Knox United Church and Unit 4 UCW and in 1968 became a member of the Evergreen Chapter #80, Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron twice 1986-87 and 2004-05. She enjoyed many trips travelling with her children after Dad passed away which included trips to Paris, France; London, England; Mexico City; Boston, Mass.; Florida many times; Memphis, Tennessee; Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia; San Antonio, Texas; twice to Hawaii and many trips to B.C. and Toronto area.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents August and Lilah Johnson, husband Matt in 1999, her brothers Wilfred, Wes, Roy and Charlie Johnson her sister Grace Proteau, sisters in law Jean, Dulsie and Shirley Johnson, brother in law Ed Proteau and her grandson Glen Gushulak.

Ruth is survived and sadly missed by her six children, Bonnie (Ray) Gushulak, Walter, David (Kelly), Donnie (Yvonne), Dale (Debbie) and Ken (Cheryl) Rogoza. Grandchildren Jana (Wayne) Riches, Christie (Addis) Gushulak-Garuk, Amanda (Luke) Moilliet, Ashley (Mike) Kitchen, and Olivia Rogoza. Great grandchildren Griffin and Brayden Garuk, Owen, Corbin, Paisley Riches and Norah Ruth Moilliet. Sister Shirley (Roy) Gadd, sisters in law Eileen Johnson, Jocelyn Johnson, Anne Kachurowski and Rose Rogoza and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to visit prior to the service on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11:30 am with the service to commence at 1 p.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances, Ontario. Mr. Dan Tausendfrende will officiate and Mom will be laid to rest with Dad at the Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.

The pallbearers will be Wayne Riches, Addis Garuk, Rick Johnson, John Johnson,

Doug Johnson and Grant Rogoza. Honourary pallbearers will be family and friends.
