June (Storey) Hacking

June (Storey) Hacking

June (Storey) Hacking, née Roth, 78, of Kamloops, B.C., passed away peacefully with her family by her side September 25, 2013, at Lakeview Lodge in Kelowna, B.C.

She was born in Pinewood, Ontario, June 20, 1935.

June started her career as a registered practical nurse (RPN) at Atikokan General Hospital, and lived and worked here for twenty years. She continued her career in Kelowna, then Kamloops, where she retired from Royal Inland Hospital in 1995. Her dedication to, and love for, her work was admired by many; she always took great pride in helping others. In June’s downtime, she loved working her green thumb, tending her garden and plants, and was an avid crafter.

She is survived by her children Linda Angus of Atikokan, Wayne (Susan) Storey, Larry (Dawn) Storey, and Jo-Anne (Ray) Sims, grandchildren Colleen Storey, Tiffany Angus, Tina Wirst, Melissa Sims, Tracy Angus, Brittany Sims, Courtney Sims, and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Harold (Priscilla) Roth, Ellen Belbas, Gerry (Bill) Cullen, Earl Roth, and Dwayne (Leone) Roth, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

June was pre-deceased by husband John Hacking, parents Germaine and Norman Roth, grandson Jason Storey, brother Donald Roth, and in-laws Ernie Multimaki, Maureen Roth and Harry Belbas.

Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church in Kamloops on October 2. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the BC Lung Association would be appreciated.
