Wolfgang ‘Wolf’ Rechlin

The ‘Kingfisher’ passed away on Friday July 31, 2015 at the Atikokan General Hospital with his family by his side to wish him peace on his next journey.

Wolf fought and kicked butt for three years to beat cancer. He never gave up but he was unable to keep a promise to his doctor when he told her he was going to live to be a hundred.“I’ve checked the paper today and lo and behold, I’m in it” “I was born in Berlin, Germany on June 14, 1935 to Freida and Georg Rechlin. I immigrated to Canada at the age of 21 in 1956. In 1975, I met the love of my life, Alana La Rocque and we married in 1978. Soon after, we were blessed with a beautiful daughter. I was known as a jack of all trades, reliable and dependable in everything I set my mind to. My baking and cooking skills were second to none. Other passions in my life revolved around my family; fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, gardening, camp life and any other activities involving the great outdoors.

I have something to ask of you if you will. Please remember all of my dear loved ones, today, tomorrow, and the days to come. This is a really hard time for them all; my wife of 37 years Alana, daughter Tamara and husband John of Sulphur, LA and his sons Chad and Chris and their families, sister Ute Otto of Melbourne, Australia, my brother in laws ,Allan, David and Eldon La Rocque (Mary), Sister in laws Glenda Radbourne, and her daughters Jennifer (Doug), April (Garrit), Brandi (Stephen), and their families, Margaret (Tim) Scott and her daughters Debby and family, Melanie and Heather (Jason) and their family.

Also, remember my life long and special friends Rick Socholotuk (Tracey), Don (Olean) Jones and family, Glen Armstrong and family, Gerald Findlay (Maureen) and Jim Blunderfield. Some years back, I lost my mother Freida, father Georg and step mom Anna Rechlin, in laws Anna and Allan La Rocque, brother in law Allan Radbourne, and special grand boy Clint “Shorty” Quibodeaux.

Come by, kick back with family and close friends and enjoy fellowship and vittles on Saturday September 5, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Riverview United Church, Atikokan, ON, with Lay Pastor Carolyn Kreger Officiating, (Don’t be Late)”.

Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at a later date. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Atikokan General Hospital or the Tamarack House, c/o Northridge Funeral Home, Box 89, Emo, ON, P0W 1E0. Online condolences may be offered at www.northridgefuneralhome.com

“I travelled where I wanted to travel, learned what I wanted to learn, fixed what I wanted to fix and loved who I wanted to love. Eat, drink and be merry, life is short. You never know how much time you’ve got left, enjoy it. You’re gonna miss me….. Wolf.”
