Joseph ‘Joe’ Komaransky
Joe Komaransky, 87, of Atikokan, ON passed away suddenly on Friday July 31, 2015 at the Atikokan General Hospital.
Joe was born on October 22, 1927 to Bill and Magdaline (Slone) Komaransky. He grew up in Ohla, MB later moving to Petlura, MB where he farmed until coming to Ontario when he met Linda and they raised their two children Bryan, Josie along with step son Dennis in Atikokan, ON.
Joe leaves to mourn his partner Jean Sawdo, daughter Josie LeBlanc (Rick), stepson Dennis Leckner, grandchildren Shyla LeBlanc (Brandon), Richard and Jaxon Makahanuik and great grandson Xander Eaton. He is also survived by his brother Frank Komaransky (Marie) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was predeceased by his parents Bill and Magdaline, his son Bryan (2010), his siblings
Jean Haney, Mary Mykolaishyn, John Komaransky, Katie Nowsad, Mike Komaransky, Matt Komaransky, Annie Yaskiw, Emily Zamonsky, Stanley Komaransky, Stella Dubranski and Tenie Slobozian.
Joe was avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, pick berries or pine cones. He and Jean were always on an adventure somewhere! He loved his garden and was a wonderful cook sharing his recipes with anyone wanting to learn…but aside from all that, he really liked to play cards and he would do anything to win even if it meant not playing by the rules! Like nobody noticed!
A Celebration of Joe’s Life was held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 1 p.m. from the Atikokan Royal Canadian Legion with Pastor Isaiah Birnstiel officiating. Interment followed in Little Falls Cemetery, Atikokan.
