Lucille Eileen Bubnick

A beautiful spirit has left us. Lucille Eileen Bubnick (née Lusignan), 75, gave her family the gift of love and patience that will endure long past her years. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, step-grandmother, and matriarch who believed that love should be at the core of all our actions, and lived her conviction every day.

Lucille was born in Somerset, Manitoba on May 12, 1939 and moved with her brothers and sisters to Atikokan, Ontario in 1950. She met Dennis in Atikokan, married in 1956 and they eventually moved to Esterhazy, SK where Michele, Corey and Terry were born. Lucille and Dennis moved to Saskatoon in 1967, where Greg and Susie were born. Lucille worked a short time for the Bank of Montreal and then 25 years for the Teacher’s Credit Union, finishing her banking career as one of the first official financial planners in her field.

The cabin at Big Shell Lake brought many wonderful memories for her and her family. She retired in 2000, travelled and enjoyed life with Walter and her parade of new grandchildren. She moved with Walter from her long time home in Eastview in 2000. New neighbours quickly became close friends. Lucille’s battles with her health came to a blessed end on June 4, 2014.

She leaves her partner Walter Beckwermert, children Michele (Steve), Corey (Laurie), Terry (Deb), Greg (Robyn) and Sue (Miles) Johnson, siblings Keith, Barbara, Doug, Roy, and sister-in-law Erica, as well as in-laws Donald and Jim (Elaine) Bubnick. Grandma Lou was loved and cherished by her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and sons and daughters-in-law, whom she welcomed into family with all her heart. She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis Bubnick in 1982, and her parents Stan and Adele Lusignan, brothers Ken and Norman, niece Linda Bubnick, and parent in-laws James and Blanche Bubnick, and sister-in-law Connie Bubnick.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of your choice. A celebration of Lucille’s was held June 7 at the Saskatoon Funeral Home. It was her wish to be cremated; interment will be held later in a private family ceremony at Esterhazy. Condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonFuneralHome.com.
