Mary Olive Pages (née Armitt)
Mary Pages, 92, of Thunder Bay left this world on November 5, 2013.
She was a beautiful, caring person who always put others first, who left memories of a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mary was born in McCreary, Manitoba on May 27, 1921, and married John Pages November 13, 1948, in Laurier, Manitoba.
Shortly after, they relocated to Sapawe, Ontario where they lived before moving to Atikokan, Ontario for a short period of time. They purchased property halfway between Sapawe and Atikokan and built the home where they lived their lives, until eventually moving to Thunder Bay for the remainder of their years.
Mary was an avid seamstress and had sewn numerous wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses for family and friends in the Atikokan and Thunder Bay areas. She had many talents as she also made and decorated wedding cakes.
She also enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting, but she loved to play bingo with the late Marge Bruyere, Julia Wells and Frances Lee.
Her main reason for living was family. She loved to host big dinners where everyone was welcome… and that means “Everyone”.
Mary is and always will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Cecile and son-in-law Don Frykas, sisters Delma Prouty and Verna Renville, cousin Exilda (and Joe D’Aoust), as well as, her grandchildren Craig and Carla Pages, Kim (Pages) and Aaron Gunn, Corrie Pages and Randy Pages, all her great-grandchildren and numerous forever friends, Amanda Ward, Arlene and Albert Tremblay, Don and Lorena Blair, Jean and Richard Lampi, Shirley Bowes, Joe Veran, among many others. The only thing bigger than her list of friends was the size of her heart.
She was pre-deceased by her husband John, son Edwin (Sonny), parents John and Olive Armitt, father and mother-in-law Victor and Sophie Pages, brother Dave Armitt, sisters-in-law Doreen Armitt, Angel Lecotte, Jean Matheson and Cecile Gauvin, brothers-in-law Charles Prouty, Joe Pages, Pete Pages, Marcel Pages, Harold Brindley, Archie Gauvin, Lucien Lecotte, Ed Renville and Lorne Matheson, nephew Thomas Ross and niece Claudette Magne.
She will rest in peace with John, “together forever”, in the St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Until we meet again…
