Timo Kosola

Timo Matias Kosola, 57, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2014.

Tim was born on July 12, 1956 in Kokkola, Finland, and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1957. He lived and was educated in Atikokan, graduating from Atikokan High School (Outers, 1972-93) in 1974. Tim loved the outdoors and most of his employment was outdoor related. He worked for nine years on fire crew for the MNR in Atikokan, and had also done surveying, scaling, welding, road maintenance and carpentry work over the years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was very sports-minded, playing hockey and soccer for many years. His love of hockey was apparent in his cheering for Finland at any Canada-Finland games.

Tim will be sadly missed by his parents, Jack and Elsa Kosola of Atikokan, and his sisters Raija Simmons (Aaron) of Ignace, Merja Harden (Neil) and Ilona McEachern (Brad), both of Winnipeg.  He is survived by his nephews Jack, Alex and Eric as well as other relatives in Thunder Bay, Finland and Sweden.

Interment will take place at a private family service later this summer.  If friends so desire, donations in Tim’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. On-line condolences may be offered at www.harbourviewfuneral.ca
