Obituary: Wanda Zygmunt

Wanda Zygmunt

With great sadness, the family of Wanda Zygmunt, 82, announces her passing on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in Selkirk, Manitoba.

Wanda was born February 8, 1935 in Zawady, Poland to Walter and Stanislava Sobanska.  She was united in marriage to Michael Zygmunt on November 28, 1953 and settled into a making a life for them and their family.  She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church and the CWL, she was a member of the Pioneer Club and enjoyed gardening.  As her health failed she moved to Selkirk to be closer to her daughters.

She leaves behind her son Roman and wife Corinna; daughters Irene and husband John Rarog and Elizabeth Lachowski; grandchildren Diana (Paul), Angie (Kyle), Michael (Oceane), Robert (Jacqueline), Victoria (Jesse), Ryan (Meaghan) and Tyler (Shannon); great grandchildren Halena, Emerson and Aria; brothers Bogdan and John Krowka; sisters Maria Dunajska and Zofia Krol as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Wanda was predeceased by her husband Michael in 1989 and her son Matthew in 1974.

A funeral mass was held January 29 at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Atikokan, Ontario. Interment took place in Little Falls Cemetery in Atikokan. The pallbearers were Ryan Diziadzios, Tyler Zygmunt, Joey Bednarski, Sid Stus, Michal Rarog and Kyle Molotkin.
