Marjorie Croome
Marjorie Clara Croome (née Brown), 97, passed peacefully with family by her side October 20, 2015.
Marjorie worked for the Township of Atikokan from 1961 to 1982, and was active in the Anglican Church Women and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed travel, cards at the Pioneer Centre, gardening, and especially spending time with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her life, she always said.
She was the loving mother of daughter Liz (Darrell) Chambers and son Herb (Mary); special grandmother to Lisa Chambers (Leo), Dorion, Jodie (Jeff) Hare, Carissa (Rob) Mininni, Brad (Tracy) Croome; and great grandmother to Jacob, Shailyn, Elias, Cheyenne, Cohen, Ozzy, Emmett, Avery, Mason, Brooklyn, Jonathan and Rhyse. She is survived by sister-in-law Merveline Brown and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. She was pre-deceased by husband William R. Croome, brother Gerald Brown, sisters and brother-in-laws Josephine (Cam) Benson, Ruby (Craig) Duns and nephew William Cheslock.
Funeral services were held October 24, 2015 at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Luncheon followed at the Legion after a private internment. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Strengthening the Heart of Our Community (arena-pool) fund, or the Canadian Hearing Society.
“Say not in grief, she is no more; but live in thankfulness that she was.”
